Immigration Program from Lowell Mills

The fourth graders had a special speaker from the Tsongas Industrial History Center's (Lowell Mills) "Exploring the Immigrant Experience" program come in last week to teach the students about the immigrant experience. By using primary sources (oral histories and artifacts), students explored the immigrant experience which included learning about preserving culture, hardships, decisions to leave, becoming American, the journey, and how immigrant groups help shape American culture. Finally, the students made a paper quilt that highlighted all the immigrants we learned about and where they came from.
